Charles Sturt University

Since its establishment in 1989, Charles Sturt University (CSU) has grown to become Australia's largest regional university and the country's leading provider of distance education. The University’s origins date back to the establishment of Experimental Farms in Bathurst in 1895 and Wagga Wagga in 1896, and its history includes the development of Teachers Colleges on those sites in Wagga Wagga in 1947 and Bathurst in 1951.

The growth and evolution of these institutions led to the formation in 1989 of CSU, which incorporated what had by then become the Mitchell College of Advanced Education at Bathurst and the Riverina-Murray Institute of Higher Education at Wagga Wagga.

Rankings and ratings

CSU has a strong history of producing graduates who achieve success in their chosen industries with a current graduate employment rate that is 12% above the national average. Recent survey results include:

• 81% domestic graduates of CSU found employment within four months of completing their bachelor degree (2015 Australian Graduate Survey)
• CSU has one of the best graduate employment rates in Australia (www.qilt.edu.au)
• CSU scored the highest possible, five-star rating for undergraduate student retention and success in getting a job (2016 Good Universities Guide)
• 84.2% of all graduates eligible for full-time work were successful in getting a job (Graduate Destinations Survey 2012-2014)
