The Australian Government and some private institutes offer scholarship for eligible International Students. Available courses vary from qualification level to field of study. 

Below are the main available scholarship options for international students:

 

 Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships:

The scholarship is funded by the Australian Government. It is merit based and very competitive. To apply, candidate must be from a participating country and/or region.

All recipients will receive:

  • travel allowance: $3,000 (provision to pay up to $4,500 under special circumstances)
  • establishment allowance: $2,000 (fellowships) or $4,000 (scholarships)
  • monthly stipend: $3,000 (paid up to the maximum category duration on a pro-rata basis)
  • health insurance for the full category duration (OSHC for international recipients)
  • travel insurance (excluding during programme for international recipients)

 

Australia Awards Scholarships:

The scholarships are long term development awards administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade promoting knowledge and educations links with other countries, particularly those countries located in the Indo-Pacific region, to undertake full time undergraduate or postgraduate study at participating Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions.

The following benefits generally apply, but check website for details:

  • Full tuition fees
  • Return air travel
  • Establishment allowance—a once only payment of A$5,000
  • Contribution to Living Expenses (CLE) – payable to awardees is A$30,000 per year.
  • Introductory Academic Program (IAP)
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of the award (for award holder only)
  • Pre-course English (PCE) fees
  • Supplementary Academic Support may be available
  • Fieldwork—may be available for eligible research students

 

International Postgraduate Research Scholarships:

The scholarship for the research master degree is valid for two years and is available to all nationalities (except New Zealand). From 2011, commencing IPRS recipients will be able to apply for an Australian Postgraduate Award.

The scholarship covers:

  • Tuition fees
  • Health cover costs for scholarship holders
  • Health cover costs for their dependants

 

Australia - APEC Women in Research Fellowship: 

The scholarship is available for high achieving female researchers from developing APEC economies to support women’s empowerment. The 2016 round of the fellowship is now open.

All recipients will receive:

  • Travel allowance: AU$3,000 - AU$4,500
  • Establishment allowance: AU$2,000
  • Monthly stipend: AU$3,000
  • Monthly family allowance AU$1,200 if applicable

The majority of scholarships are available for most nationalities however, it is important to contact the provider to confirm whether your country of residency meets the requirements or not.
